Lead to Read KC provides books to children in our twenty-four partner schools, at community events and through our Reading is Everywhere program.
Reading Rally with Patrick Mahomes a Huge Success
On March 15, Lead to Read KC hosted a Reading Rally featuring Patrick Mahomes at the T-Mobile Center. The event centered around his 15 and the Mahomies foundation’s Read for 15 program, which encourages students to read outside of school for 15 minutes every day. Around 2,300 students joined Mahomes in chants and listened to a read-aloud of local author Kristen Heath’s book We’re All Weird. To learn more or see footage from the event, check out the coverage on our In the News page.
Cheers to a Great Partnership!
Thank you to Casual Animal Brewing Co. and everyone who raised a beer to support Lead to Read KC during January and February. The $3,855 in Local Motive funds will help further our mission to support the social, emotional and reading skills that are foundational for student success.
