West Wyandotte Early Literacy Fair (Rescheduled) | February 26, 5:30-7 p.m.

The Early Literacy Fair celebrating Mo Willems and all his fantastic stories and characters. Puppet Pigeon will be making an appearance for little ones to interact with and photo ops! Lead to Read KC will be there along with many community organizations, including Parents as Teachers KCK, Project Eagle, The Family Conservancy, KC Brain Builders, Dreams KC, and KCKPS Head Start Program. Registration is preferred and can be completed HERE.

Community Cocktails at J. Rieger | March 12, 3-6 p.m.

Join us for Community Cocktails in The Monogram Lounge. Twenty percent of all beverage sales will be donated back to Lead to Read KC. 

St. James March Madness Eggstravaganza | March 30, 10 a.m.-1 p.m.

St. James United Methodist Church will hold a community event for families. Join the fun along with Lead to Read KC and other community partners. There will be kids activities, a craft area, and basketball skills. Location: 5540 Wayne Ave., Great Hall and Kids Kingdom.

Story Time at PH Coffee – Mondays, 10 a.m.

Looking for a community storytime to enjoy with your kids? PH Coffee, one of our Reading Is Everywheresm locations, hosts a free weekly event in their kids zone. Get more information and register on their Eventbrite page.

Second Saturday Book Sorting

Looking for a one-time volunteering opportunity you can do with friends or family? We need help processing and labeling book donations. Sign up to join us on any second Saturday morning to clean, label and sort books. Adults and children twelve and older are welcome.

Lead to Read KC provides books to children in our twenty-four partner schools, at community events and through our Reading is Everywhere program. 

Monthly Pop-Up Food Pantry and Resource Fair

On the second Tuesday of each month, Lead to Read KC joins the Kansas City, Missouri Health Department’s Pop-up Food Pantry and Resource Fair. We provide free books and advise families how to support literacy and reading in their home. Anyone is welcome between 1:30 and 3:30 p.m. at the KCMO Health Department, located at 2400 Troost Ave, KCMO. Questions? Email [email protected].
