Book Donation Guidelines
We welcome your help in supporting the hundreds of students we serve with our Reading Mentoring program, as well as getting books to children in our community via our Reading Is EverywhereSM initiative!
- You are welcome to make a book donation or conduct a book drive at any time. We distribute books to our students, teaching partners and throughout the community year-round.
- We request new and like-new books (books that are not worn, torn or tattered, and in good condition to give to another child).
- Lead to Read KC accepts cash donations to purchase books that match our students’ reading levels at a very low cost. You can donate online, and click the box next to “I would like to dedicate this donation” to indicate you would like your donation earmarked for books. Or, send a check and a note to Lead to Read KC, P.O, Box 411006, Kansas City, MO 64141.
- Through our Reading Is Everywhere book distribution program and Reading and Mentoring Programs, we distribute new and like-new books to children from birth and beyond. Books with culturally diverse characters are ideal.
- Bilingual Spanish/English books are always needed.
- Lead to Read KC can provide signage and informational materials to use in conjunction with book drives. Want to include our logo in your marketing materials? Download it here.
- Looking for a quick source of current needs? Purchase a new book from our Amazon Wish List. Your book will be automatically shipped to Lead to Read KC.
- We request book donations be delivered to our office in the Nonprofit Village, 31 W. 31st St., at a pre-arranged time.
