Reading is Everywhere(SM) Expands

We put out the call over the summer asking our corporate sponsors, community partners, and Lead to Read KC social followers to help us fill our bookcases. And oh baby, did you deliver! We received thousands of books from drives, donations, and drop-offs. You might be asking, what are we going to do with all of this fabulous reading material? Get it out into the hands of young readers, of course! More books means we are able to expand our Reading is Everywhere^SM program, because we believe “Wherever kids may be waiting, they could be reading!”

 

The program has grown to 57 locations so you’ll see our Reading is Everywhere^SM book distribution baskets popping up all over the metro. Children can select their very own book to read while a parent or caregiver is getting a haircut, doing laundry, or visiting a food pantry. The books can be taken home to enjoy and encourage more reading. Each month, Lead to Read KC replenishes the baskets with new books. Did you know that during the 2022-2023 school year, we distributed more than 10,000 books?
