Patrick Mahomes is MVP On and Off the Field

Traci MurphyFeb. 9, 2023

Congratulations to Patrick Mahomes on being named the NFL’s Most Valuable Player, his second MVP honor so far this year! He was named MVP by the Professional Football Writers of America (PFWA) last month.

Mahomes heads into the Super Bowl having led the NFL in passing yards and passing touchdowns in 2022, but he’s also a MVP off the field through his foundation, 15 and the Mahomies

15 and the Mahomies is dedicated to improving the lives of children. The foundation supports initiatives that focus on health, wellness, communities in need of resources and other philanthropic causes. Since its start in 2019, the foundation has given more than 130 charitable grants totaling $2.9 million in the Kansas City area.

Lead to Read KC is a long-time partner of 15 and the Mahomies and is one of their original “15 for 15” grant recipients. The two organizations have even partnered on a “Golf with Mahomes in Hawaii” online auction item – available until Feb. 19 at bit.ly/MahomesWeekend – benefitting Lead to Read KC’s programming.

Thank you, Patrick, for all you do!

Did you know that Lead to Read KC has an MVP of its own? Executive Director Pauly Hart was honored as the 15 and Mahomies’ Community MVP in December. This award recognizes Hart’s work of growing a community of readers and Lead to Read KC’s commitment to the Foundation’s Read for 15 initiative. The program asks kids to pledge to read for at least 15 minutes per day outside of school for 15 weeks.

From book drives and distributions to spreading awareness about the importance of reading across Kansas City, Hart and Lead to Read KC are proud to be a part of the Read for 15 team. They can’t wait to cheer on the Chiefs this Sunday and hopefully watch Mahomes be named MVP for the third time this season.
